Top 5 Seahawks’ players that are Vital for Success in 2020

As the 2020 season approaches, the Seahawks are looking to fill in some of the biggest gaps on their team. What players will give the Seahawks the edge over the 49ers this year? Off course, winning the division is important so having game changing players on your rosteis necessary. I will break down some of the most important players on this roster that are going to give the Seahawks a better chance of winning the division in 2020.

5.) Damian Lewis

The guard out of LSU has a big role on this team. Hopefully, he is an upgrade from former Seahawk Germain Iffedi and his penalties. Lewis has shown a lot of promise in collage and looks like a better player than Iffedi in terms of pass protection. Looking at his Collage highlights he seams to have a great ability to get to the second level on running plays and has great strength which is clearly visible on most of his snaps when he pushes defensive linemen out of their original position. I listed him as a top 5 vital players list because as a rookie he must help block Russell. Russell Wilson is the biggest contributor to success in 2020. If Russ keeps on getting sacked it increases the likelihood of him getting hurt. Also, Russel Wilson is a top 2 quarterback. Imagine how productive Russel Wilson could be if he doesn’t end up as on the top 5 most sacked quarterback list. If Lewis plays well, think about the upgrade we will get in terms of penalties and pass protection on the interior side of the line.

4.) Quinton Dunbar

Quinton Dunbar is 2nd best cornerback in the NFL according to PFF. Dunbar and Griffin would make a great team in the backfield. Luckily for Seahawks fans and Dunbar, his court trial has been delayed and may not take place until 2022. Having a weapon like him will give this team massive upgrade. Many times, last year, the Seahawks struggled in coverage, that mostly could be because the Seahawks played more zone than they usually would. However, the Seahawks could definitely use some help in the back fieldQuinton Dunbar was the best offseason signing Seattle made. By having 2 excellent corners in Griffin and Dunbar can also benefit the pass rush. With better coverage down field the Seahawks pass rush will have more time to get to the quarterback. Pass rush is probably the biggest weakness so having an excellent back field could help out tremendously. Also, having a great corner like Dunbar will help would increase the turn overs. Quinton Dunbar will have a huge impact on this team, so he is worthy of being number 4.

3.) Darrell Taylor

Darrell Taylor is another rookie that the Seahawks will be counting on. The 2 round pick out Tennessee has a big role on this team. As I mentioned before, the Seahawks biggest weakness was pass rush so players like Taylor must play well. Even though 2020 will be Taylor’s first year he has a good chance of winning the Leo role. Darrell Taylor has a unique frame that is accompanied by tremendous speed. Former Seahawk star Cliff Avril has a similar build, at 6ft 4in and around 260 Lbs. This should give many Seahawk fans a little bit of confidence on Taylor’s success in the league. I put him down as number 3 because imagine how much better the Seahawks could be with a decent DE. Clowney last year was good but only produced 3 sacks. If Taylor can come and have 5-8 sacks, he will tremendously help. If you think about it, the Seahawks the biggest weakness on the defensive line is DE. We have a good DT core in Jaren Read and Puna Ford. Hopefully, Darrel Taylor can fill in the missing piece on the D line.

2.) Jaren Read

Jaren Read is an explosive DT. His career came off to a slow start, but in 2018 he had a pro bowl type season with 10.5 sacks.  2020 was his last year under contract, but the Seahawks gave him a 2-year extension worth 22.5 million dollars. That’s a huge contract for someone that did not have any where near number of sackhe did in 2020. Last year he had a disappointing season and the Seahawks are hoping he can replicate that 2018 season.

1.) Russell Wilson

What can I say about Mr. Russ !!
